World Cup 06: Tunisia
In this series of posts we shall look at each country’s current squad who will most likely see action during the games itself. We continue with Tunisia (country profile). The full archive is found here.
Projected Lineup: Mabrouk Zaid, Sami al-Jaber, Yasser al-Qahtani, Taiseer al-Jassam, Hamad al-Montashari, Redha Fallatha, Ahmed al-Bahri, Saud al-Khariri, Mohammad Noor, Nawaf al-Temyat, Mohammad al-Shalhoub
Other Players: Chawki Ben Saada, Adel Chedli, Kais Ghodhbane, Sofiane Militi, Jawher Mnari, Riadh Bouazizi, Hamed Namouchi, Karim Essidiri
Tunisia’s style of play relies heavily on its fullback players. Luckily they have a potent combination of Trabelski and Clayton. Or are these two players the reason why their coach Lemerre is putting a conservative midfield combination? Whatever the reason is; as long as Trabelski’s attitude is in check they have a good fighting chance.
The problem with this team is a reliable scorer who can light up game after game. Silva dos Santos at striker position may not be enough to do that; neither midfield veteran Riadh Bouazizi. Riadh is counted upon to provide the leadership and maturity in this team.
Watch out for Tunisia. They might just get their second World Cup win in 28 years. You can see in this chart the list of teams and groups they belong to.
